日出地上，光明渐进
The Judgment
Progress: the prosperous prince is honored with many horses and granted audience three times in a single day.
The hexagram of Progress is the light rising above the earth, a movement upward toward brightness. A loyal prince, richly rewarded with fine horses and received by his sovereign three times in one day, is an image of advancement that flows smoothly.
明出地上，晋。君子以自昭明德。
晋，进也。明出地上，顺而丽乎大明，柔进而上行，是以康侯用锡马蕃庶，昼日三接也。
Interpretation(original text)
晋，进也，升也。日出地上，光明昭著，万物受其光照而各得其所，象征积极进取、光明正大地前进。《序卦》曰：「物不可以终壮，故受之以晋。晋者，进也。」壮后必进，此进乃柔顺依附于光明之进，非刚猛突进。
上离为火为日，下坤为地。日出于地上，光明远照，自然之景中最为积极向上者。程颐曰：「明出地上，益明而盛，晋之象也。」坤为顺，离为明，以柔顺之德依附光明，循序渐进，前途光明。其进也，柔而不急，明而不炫。
下卦坤三阴为柔顺之体，上卦离中含六五之阴，以柔居尊。六五为全卦之主爻，阴居阳位虽不当，然处中位而有包容开明之德。初六至六三以顺德渐进，九四以刚居柔位为晋道之助力。朱熹曰：「柔进而上行，顺而丽乎大明。」
晋继大壮之后，壮极必进。《序卦》明示壮而后晋之序。晋与明夷互为综卦，晋为日出地上、光明上进，明夷为日入地中、光明受损。一进一退、一明一暗，相互对照。周文王演易时，深知晋明夷之互根，进退明暗乃天道循环。
The Lines
Progressing, yet turned back. Perseverance brings good fortune. If one meets with no trust, remain generous and there is no blame.
One wishes to advance but is checked and rebuffed; holding to the right course still brings good fortune. Even when confidence is withheld, meet it with a spacious, unhurried heart and no fault arises.

初六以阴居阳位，处晋之初，进道未开。「晋如摧如」，前进受到阻碍和挫折。然「贞吉」者，守正则吉。王弼注：「处晋之始，未被受命，进而不获其用。」此时不必急躁，「裕无咎」，宽裕从容则可无咎，积蓄德行以待进用之时。
Progressing, yet sorrowful. Perseverance brings good fortune. One receives great blessing from one's ancestress.
The way forward is clouded with worry, yet steadfast rectitude brings good fortune; great favor will come, as if bestowed by a revered grandmother.

六二以阴居阴位，得位得中，柔顺中正。「晋如愁如」，进而忧愁者，因尚未被明主赏识。然终「受兹介福于其王母」，以中正之德终获嘉赏。程颐释曰：「柔顺中正，进之正也。虽未即得志，终必受福。」二爻为晋道正途。
All are in accord. Remorse disappears.
When the many trust and endorse you, regret dissolves. With the support of the crowd behind you, all goes smoothly.

六三以阴居阳位，不当位而处下卦之极。「众允」，众人信任支持之象，以其能顺承上下，团结众力。朱熹曰：「以阴居阳，虽不当位，然处坤体之上，众阴推而进之。」有众人帮助则「悔亡」，合力共进方可突破阻碍。
Progress like a hoarding rodent. Perseverance brings danger.
To advance greedily and warily, like a rat that grabs and frets, brings danger even if one holds one's ground. Grasping ambition invites trouble.
Image: 鼫鼠贞厉，位不当也。
九四以阳居阴位，不当位，刚而处柔，有鼫鼠之象。「晋如鼫鼠」，鼫鼠能飞不能高、能缘不能极、能游不能渡，喻才能有限却贪求多端。程颐谓：「以不正之阳居高位，贪进而据非其有。」「贞厉」，守正以防危厉。此爻警示进取不可越分。
Remorse vanishes. Take no heed of loss and gain. To go forward brings good fortune; nothing that does not further.
Regret fades away; do not brood over what is lost or won. To go ahead brings good fortune, and nothing will fail to serve you.

六五以阴居阳位，处尊位而得中。虽阴柔不当位，然柔中有包容开阔之德。「失得勿恤」，不必计较一时得失。朱熹释曰：「以柔居尊，光明在上，有君之度。」此爻为卦主，以宽大心态面对进退，「往吉无不利」，一切向前皆吉。
Advancing with the horns. This may be used only to chastise one's own city. Awareness of danger brings good fortune and no blame. Yet persistence brings humiliation.
To push forward by force, horns lowered, is fit only for setting one's own house in order; though risky, alert vigilance brings fortune without blame. But to cling stubbornly to such hardness leads to regret.
Image: 晋其角，维用伐邑，道未光也。
上九以阳居阴位，处晋之极。「晋其角」，进到了角之顶端，壮而过盛。「维用伐邑」，只能用于攻伐自己的城邑，喻内省自治。程颐曰：「进极则亢，亢则有悔，当反治其内。」「厉吉无咎」，知危而自省则终可得吉。进极当思退。

行情如日升地上，适合积极入场，但须避免贪婪如鼫鼠般患得患失。
晋升通道明朗之时当积极把握，获得众人认同是关键，不可独断专行。
感情进展顺利的阶段，以诚恳开放的态度经营，不必过于担忧得失。
身体状况处于上升期，适合积极调理和锻炼，但不宜激进过度。

晋卦象征日出地上、光明上进。运势正在上升，前途光明。如同太阳升起，一切逐渐明朗，宜积极进取、发挥才华。

商业上正是扩展市场的好时机。品牌知名度提升，客户认可度增加，可大胆开拓新领域。

School Interpretations(original text)
晋者进也。日出地上，万物昭明。君子奋发有为，以明德自昭，功业可成。
此卦火在地上，如日初升，光明渐盛。象征着事物由暗转明、由退转进的好兆头。得此卦者，时运亨通，功名有望，得贵人扶助而步步高升。然须修养品德、端正行为，方能不负天时。
时运上升，光明在前，积极进取。
财运渐佳，投资收益可期。
家运兴隆，搬迁向阳为吉。
身体转好，注意眼目保养。
