The Judgment
The Family: the perseverance of the woman furthers.
The hexagram of the Family shows wind issuing forth from fire, an image of a household in harmony. It is advantageous for the woman to hold to what is right. A family is founded on rectitude; when each keeps to their proper place, the home is at peace and all things prosper.
风自火出，家人。君子以言有物而行有恒。
家人，女正位乎内，男正位乎外，男女正，天地之大义也。家人有严君焉，父母之谓也。父父，子子，兄兄，弟弟，夫夫，妇妇，而家道正，正家而天下定矣。
Interpretation(original text)
家人，一家之人也。卦名直指家庭伦理，为《易经》中专论家道之卦。《彖》曰「女正位乎内，男正位乎外」，家道之正在于各安其位、各尽其职。齐家方能治国，修身始于正家，此儒家伦理之基石。
上巽为风，下离为火。火燃于内而风行于外，风自火出，喻家中教化之德由内及外、推己及人。程颐曰：「火炽则风生，风行而火盛，风火相生相长，家人之象也。」巽为柔顺入，离为明照，以明照之德行于柔顺之教化，家道乃成。
六二居下卦之中，阴居阴位得正，为内卦之主，象征主内之女。九五居上卦之中，阳居阳位得正，为外卦之主，象征主外之男。二五正应，男女各正其位，家道之典范。初九在下，为家人之始；上九在上，为家长之威。朱熹曰：「一卦之中，各正其位，家之正也。」
家人继明夷之后。《序卦》曰：「伤于外者必反于家，故受之以家人。」在外受伤必归家疗伤，明夷之后人当回归家庭。家人与睽互为综卦，家人亲睦而睽乖离，合而为一组。家道正则天下定，此圣人之深意。
The Lines
Firm seclusion within the family. Remorse disappears.
To set safeguards around the household from the outset, before trouble can enter, and regret is dispelled. A well-ordered home is ruled by clear bounds laid down early.

初九以阳居阳位得正，处家人之始。「闲有家」，在家道之初就设立规矩法度。「悔亡」者，有规矩则无悔。程颐释曰：「治家当于其始，闲防于未然。」家教从严始，规矩立于初，方可防患于未然。此爻为家道奠基之象。
She should not follow her own whims. She attends to the nourishment within. Perseverance brings good fortune.
There is no need to chase outward achievement; tending faithfully to the food and care of the household, and holding to the right course, brings good fortune.

六二以阴居阴位，中正得位，为全卦之关键。「无攸遂，在中馈」，不擅自专权，专心于家中饮食之事。「贞吉」者，以柔中之德守其正道。王弼注：「处内而履中，是以贞吉。」六二为主妇之象，柔顺中正、安于其职，乃家道兴盛之本。
When tempers flare in the family, too great a severity brings remorse. Good fortune nonetheless. When wife and child dally and giggle, in the end there is humiliation.
Strict discipline in the home, though it feels harsh and stirs some regret, comes out well; but if wife and children are left to laugh and run wild without restraint, the end is disgrace.

九三以阳居阳位得正，然处内卦之极，过于刚严。「家人嗃嗃」，治家严厉以至于嗃嗃有声。「悔厉吉」，虽有过严之悔，然严而得吉。朱熹释曰：「过刚则严，严则有悔而终吉。」相比之下，「妇子嘻嘻」纵容放纵则「终吝」。治家宁严勿宽，此古人之训。
She enriches the household. Great good fortune.
To make the family flourish and prosper brings the greatest good fortune.

六四以阴居阴位得正，处上卦之初。「富家，大吉」，能使家道富足则大为吉祥。程颐谓：「四居上体之下，近君之位，以柔正之德居之，能裕其家。」六四柔顺得正，承九五之阳，顺而能丰，为持家有道之象。家富则人安，此爻为家运亨通之兆。
As a king he approaches his family. Fear not. Good fortune.
A ruler who wins the hearts of his household by his own example need not worry; good fortune follows. When one leads by virtue and sets the standard oneself, the family thrives.

九五以阳居阳位，中正尊贵，为全卦之主。「王假有家」，有如王者临于家国，以德感化众人。「勿恤吉」，不必忧虑则吉。朱熹释曰：「刚健中正以居尊位，有一家之长之象，其感化所至，如王者之有家。」九五与六二正应，阳刚中正，以德化家，家道大成。
He possesses truth and commands respect. In the end, good fortune.
Bearing sincerity together with dignity, one finds good fortune at the last. The art of governing a household lies in joining trust with a commanding presence.
Image: 威如之吉，反身之谓也。
上九居卦之极，家道之终。「有孚威如」，有诚信并具威严。治家至终，须以诚信为本、威严为用。程颐曰：「处家道之终，有孚信而威严，终吉也。」家长之道，不怒而威、不言而信。「反身之谓也」，最终要反求诸己，以身作则方能正家。

稳健的家庭财务管理是基础，量入为出、合理规划，不可因投机而动摇家庭根基。
团队如家庭，各司其职、上下有序、严而有度，方能形成良好的协作氛围。
家庭和谐需要每个人各安其位、各尽其责，严中有爱、爱中有序。
家庭生活规律是健康的基石，全家人共同维持良好作息与饮食习惯最为有益。

家人卦象征家庭和睦、治家有道。运势安稳，宜从自身做起、由内而外地建立秩序。齐家方能治业，修身方能立命。
事业上宜注重团队建设和内部管理。如同治家一般，制度明确、分工合理、上下同心，方能成就大业。
商业上强调内部治理。员工管理、制度建设、企业文化都需要用心经营。家和万事兴，团队稳则业务稳。
学业上宜从基础做起，循序渐进。家教良好、学风端正者，成绩自然优异。注重日常积累。
感情上非常吉利，象征美满和谐的家庭生活。适合谈婚论嫁，建立稳固的两人世界。各尽本分、互相尊重是关键。
做决定时宜从家庭和团队的整体利益出发。言行一致、以身作则，用持之以恒的态度来推行决策。
School Interpretations(original text)
家人者，内也。风自火出，教化由内及外。正家先正己，身修则家齐，家齐则天下平。
此卦风从火出，火旺风生，象征家庭兴旺、教化流行。家有规矩、上下有序，自然和睦昌盛。得此卦者，家庭运势极佳，宜注重亲情和谐。做事从自身做起，由近及远、由内而外地推展，必获成功。
运势平稳，重在修身齐家。
家业为主，稳健经营可获利。
家宅和顺，人丁兴旺。
注意风热之症，调理肝火。
