The Judgment
The Cauldron: supreme good fortune, and success.
The sacred vessel that turns raw stuff into nourishment stands for renewing the old and cultivating the worthy. All is deeply auspicious and moves without obstruction.
木上有火，鼎。君子以正位凝命。
鼎，象也。以木巽火，亨饪也。圣人亨以享上帝，而大亨以养圣贤。巽而耳目聪明，柔进而上行，得中而应乎刚，是以元亨。
Interpretation(original text)
鼎者，烹饪之器，取新之象也。鼎为国之重器，象征鼎新立制、养贤育德。上离（火）下巽（风），木上有火，烹饪成熟之象。程颐谓鼎「以木巽火，烹饪也」，引申为变革之后建立新秩序、化育万物。
上离为火，下巽为木风，巽木入于离火之下而助燃，风助火势，烹饪以养。鼎之形象：初六为鼎足，二三四为鼎腹，五为鼎耳，上九为鼎铉。王弼注「以木巽火，有鼎之象」，全卦结构恰如一鼎之形，取象精妙。
六五为卦主，柔中居尊，虚己养贤，黄耳金铉利贞。初六「鼎颠趾」在最下，有覆鼎倒出旧物之象，合革旧鼎新之义。上九阳刚居极为鼎铉（横杆），玉铉大吉，刚柔相济。九二、九三、九四三阳爻充实鼎腹，象征鼎中实物丰盈。
鼎为第五十卦，与革（第四十九卦）相综。《序卦》曰「革物者莫若鼎，故受之以鼎」。朱熹谓「革去故而鼎取新」，革破旧制，鼎立新规，此为治道循环之理。鼎又与革互为综卦，翻转而观，体用相因。
The Lines
The cauldron is tipped on its legs. This aids in emptying out what is foul. As one takes a consort and gains a son, there is no blame.
Turning the vessel over to pour out its filth proves useful, much as taking a secondary wife who bears an heir; no fault arises.

初六阴柔居鼎之最下，为鼎足之象。「鼎颠趾」，将鼎翻倒以倾出旧物，利出否（渣滓），虽似有过却合除旧布新之义。程颐注「颠趾以出否，更新之意」，得妾以其子亦示因卑而得用。
The cauldron is filled with substance. My rival is sick with envy yet cannot come near me. Good fortune.
The vessel is full and sound; a jealous adversary cannot reach you, and the outcome is favorable.
Image: 鼎有实，慎所之也；我仇有疾，终无尤也。
九二阳刚居中，为鼎腹实物之象。「鼎有实」，才德充实。「我仇有疾」，虽有嫉妒之人但不能害之。朱熹谓此爻「刚中有应」，与六五正应，德实而位正，能慎终如始则吉。
The cauldron's ears are damaged and its progress blocked, so the rich pheasant meat goes untasted. But when the rain comes, regret is worn away, and in the end there is good fortune.
For a time the vessel cannot be lifted and its bounty stays out of reach, yet when the rains arrive the trouble dissolves and fortune follows at last.

九三阳居阳位，处下卦之极。「鼎耳革」，鼎耳变异，一时不能举移。此爻虽刚正却无正应（上无阴爻应之），如雉膏不食，才虽美而一时不遇。然方雨则吉，阴阳和合终将亨通。
The cauldron's leg snaps, the ruler's feast is overturned, and the mess is fouled all around. Misfortune.
A broken leg spills the lord's meal into ruin; taking on far more than one can bear ends in disaster.

九四阳居柔位，承上启下之际。「鼎折足」，负重任而力有不逮，覆公餗，误事之凶。王弼注「不胜其任」，此爻警示居高位者当量力而行，否则不仅自伤，更累及所奉之事。
The cauldron has yellow ears and a lifting-rod of bronze. Perseverance is rewarding.
With sturdy yellow ears and a metal carrying-bar, the vessel is fit and reliable; holding to the correct course brings benefit.

六五以柔居尊，虚中下贤，为鼎卦之主。「黄耳金铉」，黄为中色，金铉坚刚，柔中之德配以刚正之辅。朱熹谓「柔中居尊，虚己以应刚中之贤」，利贞之道在于虚心养贤、持正不偏。
The cauldron has a carrying-rod of jade. Great good fortune; nothing is without advantage.
Crowned with a jade lifting-bar, the vessel reaches its noblest state; supreme fortune, and nothing fails to prosper.

上九阳刚居鼎之极，为鼎铉之象。「玉铉」以刚而温润，大吉无不利。虞翻注此爻刚柔得宜，鼎道大成。处鼎之终而以温润之德收束全局，示鼎新之功圆满成就。

鼎卦象征烹饪器具，寓意革故鼎新、养贤育才。如鼎器烹调美食，以滋养天下。运势大为吉祥，宜端正自身，承担重任，稳步推进各项事务。
事业运势良好，如鼎中盛满佳肴，充实丰盈。宜以才德充实自身，稳步晋升。注意不可超负荷承担责任，量力而行方能持久。与上级关系融洽，有贵人相助。
经商如鼎之调和，需要各方面资源的合理配置。宜稳健经营，积累实力，切忌贪多求快。合伙经营时应选择志同道合者，方能相辅相成。
学业方面如鼎中烹饪，需要时间与火候的把控。扎实积累学问，循序渐进，终能成就大器。考试运佳，宜全力以赴。
感情如鼎中烹调，需要耐心与用心。以真诚滋养关系，循序渐进。门当户对、志趣相投者为佳偶。婚姻美满，家庭和睦。
决策宜端正态度，以诚信为本。如鼎之正位凝命，稳重行事。重大决定需要深思熟虑，但方向明确后可大胆推进，自有贵人相助。

鼎者，器也。以木巽火，烹饪养贤之象。宜正位凝命，养德蓄才。
鼎卦为木上有火之象，火借木燃，烹饪熟食以养人。君子观此卦象，端正位置，凝聚天命。鼎为国之重器，象征稳固与尊贵。得此卦者宜稳重行事，以才德服人，如鼎之养贤，广纳英才。事业有成，名利双收，但须防止因傲慢而失去根基。
运势极佳，如鼎新之象，万事亨通。
经营稳健获利丰厚，宜长线投资。
家宅安泰，有乔迁或装修之喜。
注意脾胃消化，饮食调养为宜。
