Resources/Liuyao Courses

Learn Liuyao, taught live

Led by a real teacher, in a small cohort. Not a pile of recordings to watch alone — a group that walks a hexagram all the way from casting to reading, together. Our first cohorts are being scheduled; the waitlist is open now.

COURSE LINEUP

Two courses

I8 WEEKS · FOUNDATIONS

Liuyao Foundations Cohort

8 weeks · one live session a week · small class of ≤ 12 · from casting to first readings

Who it's for

Complete beginners curious about Liuyao who want a structured path from casting to reading — and self-taught learners stuck at "I can lay out the chart but can't read it."

What you'll learn
  • Building the chart: stems, the six relatives, self/other lines, and the six spirits
  • Three ways to cast: coins, the number method, and time-based casting — hands-on
  • Reading basics: the useful god, strength and weakness, and how to weigh moving lines
  • Walking one real hexagram end to end, from cast to conclusion
Format

One live session a week (about 90 minutes) plus a group Q&A afterward, taught live throughout, with a small cohort practicing and checking each other's work.

II6 WEEKS · PRACTICUM

Hexagram Practicum Workshop

6 weeks · case-review workshop · advanced methods · for those with a foundation

Who it's for

Learners who can already build a chart and read a simple hexagram, and want to make their readings steadier by working through harder, real cases.

What you'll learn
  • Advanced methods: transformation chains, triple-harmony combinations, void and tomb readings
  • Timing: getting a feel for when a matter is likely to come to a head
  • Real case review: from the question behind a cast to how it played out
  • Bringing your own hexagrams to be discussed and sharpened in the workshop
Format

A weekly case-review workshop built around real hexagrams — taught by example, learned by doing. Bring your own casts to discuss; small-group, high-interaction.

Common questions

QCan I join with no background at all?
The Foundations Cohort is built for complete beginners — it starts from how to cast and how to build the chart, and assumes no prior knowledge. The Practicum Workshop expects some charting and basic reading first, or that you've finished Foundations.
QHow much time does each week take?
One live session of about 90 minutes, plus your own practice and the group Q&A — plan for roughly three hours a week. If you fall behind, that's fine; the small-cohort pace keeps everyone together.
QAre sessions recorded? What if I miss one?
Recordings are kept for enrolled students to rewatch during the course, so an occasional missed session is easy to catch up on. That said, the heart of the course is live teaching and small-group interaction, so try to attend live when you can.
